These pages have been written to help anyone to create Web pages. They may be useful for those taking certain qualifications:
- BTEC Nationals for IT Practitioners/BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (Website Production, Client Side Customisation of Web Pages, Web Server Scripting, Database Design and and potentially even Event-driven and Procedural programming units) will almost be covered by the Beginners' tutorials with a few added bits from the Intermediate ones.
- BTEC Firsts for IT Practitioners (Web Development) is within the Beginners' HTML and CSS scope
- Web Development at degree level will probably need both Beginners' and Intermediate sets of tutorials and then some extra research and practice.
If you are looking to work in Web development you have four main approaches:
- get qualified (preferably to degree level)
- find an established business which needs a junior (but how do you prove you are good enough?)
- get good at this and impress someone who needs a Web site or ten (but how do you do meet them?)
- get a great idea which no one else has thought of and put your own site up
For all these there is a lot of competition so don't rely totally on either qualifications or ability.
